Chinese Yam (Huai Shan Yao) Wholesale Sourcing Guide
Expert guide to sourcing premium Chinese Yam wholesale from Jiaozuo, Henan. Quality grades, pricing, and export logistics for Huai Shan Yao from authentic producing regions.
Why Jiaozuo Chinese Yam Is the Gold Standard
Jiaozuo City in Henan Province is the authentic production area for Huai Shan Yao (怀山药), recognized as a China Protected Geographical Indication product. The region's unique loess soil and temperate climate produce yams with higher diosgenin content and superior texture. This is the premium choice for pharmaceutical and food-grade applications.
Quality Specifications
Premium Chinese Yam slices are graded by thickness (2–4mm standard), whiteness, and sulfur-free status. Key quality indicators: polysaccharide content >10%, moisture <12%, no sulfur dioxide residue (<10mg/kg for EU standards). Always request sulfur-free certification and heavy metal testing results.
Pricing & Bulk Discounts
Wholesale pricing: $3.5–6/kg depending on grade, slice thickness, and order volume. MOQ starts at 100kg. Significant discounts at 1-ton orders. Off-season storage requires temperature-controlled warehousing, which affects Q2–Q3 pricing. We offer year-round supply with consistent quality.
Processing & Packaging
Our Jiaozuo partners process yams within 48 hours of harvest: washing → peeling → slicing → low-temperature drying (preserves active compounds). Packaging options: 1kg/5kg/10kg vacuum-sealed bags in food-grade aluminum foil, or custom sizes. Private labeling available for orders over 500kg.
Export Compliance
Chinese Yam exports to the EU require Novel Food authorization compliance. For Southeast Asian markets, standard phytosanitary and health certificates suffice. Our team provides complete documentation packages tailored to your destination country.
